La lengua fisurada es frecuente (figs. 1.8 y 1.9) y suele carecer de relevancia, aunque a menudo se asocia a eritema migratorio (lengua geográfica). La lengua fisurada suele aparecer de forma aislada y ser una anomalía del desarrollo, pero puede asociarse a enfermedades sistémicas (síndromes de Down, de Melkersson-Rosenthal o de Sjögren).
