The practical aspects of the use of MEAW (multiloop edgewise archwire), MOAW (modified offset archwire) and DAW (double arch wire);
Pearls, tips, and tricks the author has developed over the years to achieve consistent stable results;
Failures, for it is to throw these that we most learn and evolve.

From epidemiological studies we can assumed that around 50% of the population show at least one sign of dysfunction of the craniomandibular system (studies
vary between 30%-70%). This means that 1 in every 2 patients that came into our dental offices are already compensating for temporomandibular dysfunction (even
though symptoms may not be present).

These patients are at higher risk of decompensating, and dental treatments have the potential to increase (or decrease) this risk. Therefore, a side from a proper diagnosis and treatment plan considering the functions of the craniomandibular system we also need an orthodontic tool that will allow clinicians to control occlusal plane inclination, vertical dimension, and mandibular position. Prof. Sadao Sato as proven that Multi Loop Edgewise Archwire (MEAW) is an ideal orthodontic tool for achieving functional harmony of the whole masticatory system, comprising the supporting tissues, the muscles, and the TMJ-occlusion relationship.
