Injuries to the teeth and jaws represent one of the most common of forms of trauma in children. The peak incidence is between 18months to 3 years and then between 8 and 10 years of age. The latter is an age at which the most susceptible teeth, namely the upper incisors are still immature in regard to root development and consequently, these injuries, even if managed well and appropriately, often end in the loss of the tooth.
